Godhra: After nine years, 63 persons freed from all the charges in the Godhra train burning case can now walk free. All of them were brought to Godhra where they were welcomed by either relatives at around midnight on Tuesday.

"I was in hell for nine years. Now, I am in paradise. I can't say anything more," said Mohammad Isaak Mamdu.

But the question still haunts them - why were they arrested and kept in custody for nine years if they were innocent men?

"I had no hope of justice. I did nothing wrong but they booked me under various offences," said Kamal Badshah.

"Yes justice took a long time," said Farooq Kesari.

On his part, Maulana Umarji, who was name as one of prime conspirators prefer to remain silent.

"I dont want to comment right now," said Umarji.

Half loaded with emotions, the innocent freed men could barely speak. There was one question that they were asking - why did it take nine long years for them to get justice?
