Pune: Kandhal Jadeja, the son of underworld gangster Santokben Jadeja of Porbander, better known as the Godmother, was arrested on Saturday from Pune in a joint operation by the Maharastra CID crime and the Porbander police.
Kandhal Jadeja had escaped from police custody after his arrest in connection with the murder of a leader in Porbander - Keshu Nebha Odedara - on March 1, 2005.
Jadeja, who had been moved from jail to a private hospital after complaining of ill health, was allegedly assisted in his escape by police who were meant to guard him.
Santokben and her sons had last hit the headlines when Santokben and her younger son, Karan were charged with the death of Kandhal's wife, Rekha Jadeja.
Kandhal and Karan have been charged with several murders on the behest of Santokben.
Kandhal will be brought to Porbander on Sunday.
