Mumbai: Today is Bakr Eid, and from Mumbai's 200 crore rupee annual goat bazaar here is a story about a very expensive goat because its god's own goat.
Named as god’s own goat, with streaks of white on brown on it. But many here say the marks on this particular goat read Allah. And that's why while goats sell at Mumbai's Deonar Abattoir for around 5,000 to 1 lakh rupees, this particular one costs a lot more.
The specks on this goat means it costs a mammoth 5 lakh rupees. And the owner is certainly getting ambitious.
Goat Owner, Shakeel, says” People like Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan should buy it. It's a special, blessed goat, it’s meant for them."
But god's own goat is not the only one, the Abattoir gets around 2 lakh animals every year before Bakr Eid and the Abattoir forms a substantial chunk of Mumbai's annual 200 crore rupee goat sale industry before the festival.
Goat Sale Coordinator, Deonar Abattoir, S A Ayub, says," In the last 10 days before Bakri Eid, this place does business of around 80 crores."
The goats come from all across the country, from Rjasthan, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. Epecially prized are goats that come from as far as Pakistan and Afghanistan. So its clearly a time to get your goat.
