Golden Temple to be air-conditioned

Amritsar: The Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee has announced that the Golden Temple will soon become air-conditioned. The decision has been taken for the benefit of the pilgrims who visit the temple in summers. A five-member committee is to oversee the works.

"A decision wil be taken on this on May 3,” said Secretary of SGPC, Harbeant Singh.

With day temperatures already soaring above the 40 degree mark in the border district, visitors are happy with the decision.

"Once it’s air-conditioned it will be good for locals and visitors from all over,” said a devotee, Ranjeet Singh.

Visitors usually make a parikrama before entering the sanctum sanctorum, which is to be air-conditioned. The decision will hopefully bring the much needed respite as and when it becomes operational.
