New Delhi: India's Arjun Atwal won his second Maybank Malaysian Open title on Sunday.
Atwal carded a final round 8 under 64 and then kept his nerves in the playoff against defending champion Peter Hedblom.
Seven strokes behind after the third day, Atwal carded nine birdies in the fourth round to finish tied for the first place with Hedblom on a tournament total of 18-under.
Atwal then kept his cool to finish on par on the sudden death playoff hole to pull off the win. Atwal had earlier won the title in 2003 as well.
This is Atwal's seventh career title and would be particularly special for him since it came after a five-year long wait for him.
"I have no words to put it. The stuff that I have gone through the last year, year and half, I have just tried to keep my emotions in control. But I can't. It's way too big for me, this win. This win is like, probably, mind blowing," the golfer said after his triumph.
