KOCHI: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has asked the state government to bring in suitable amendments to its agreement with the self-financing medical colleges on seat-sharing.
In a statement issued here, ABVP national executive committee member B R Arun said that the managements of the self-financing colleges have been taking huge admission fees for the merit and management seats of the post graduate course.
“Students are forced to pay up to Rs 35 lakh to self-financing colleges for the post graduate course. As per the existing agreement between the government and the college managements, admissions to self-financing colleges should be completed before May 25.
“Even after the Supreme Court has granted time up to June 30 for admissions, the Kerala government has made it May 25, a move which raises suspicions,” he pointed out.
ABVP has decided to organise agitations if the state government does not amend the existing agreement, he said.
