New Delhi: The UPA Government has decided to convene Parliament session from October 17 to November 21.
It will be the first time that both houses of parliament would be meeting after the trust vote.
The Government has plenty to deal with including the J&K unrest, failure to deal firmly with terror attack and cash for votes scam.
Hence, it has decided to buy time for itself apparently to muster courage to face the opposition for first time after it won the trust vote in July in a three-day special Parliament session.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vyalar Ravi confirmed the above dates for the sessions.
The Government hopes that a delayed session would give enough time to cool tempers.
However, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) sees an agenda in the date.
Member of BJP Yashwant Sinha said, “This is most unsatisfactory. This government has treated parliament with complete disdain.”
Sources reveal that a winter session is almost ruled out as it is usually called in November.
With the government keen to have elections only early next year hopefully with prices down and a good monsoon, this may well turn out to be the last session of the Manmohan Singh Government.
