Govt employees strike, DM strikes back

Lucknow: Lucknow district magistrate Amit Ghosh on Friday allegedly slapped two junior government employees, who were striking work along with their colleagues.

TV channels showed Ghosh, who was accompanied with police officials, talking to unidentified officials at the Agriculture Directorate in Lucknow and suddenly slapping them.

A government employees' union has demanded that Ghosh and Deputy Inspector General of Police in Lucknow be punished for the incident.

"We condemn the incident and both the officers should be placed under suspension by the government. The employees will not buckle under pressure tactics of the administration," said Ramakant Mishra, a spokesperson of the union.

Junior government employees went on an indefinite strike from Friday to protest against lathicharge on them during a demonstration in Lucknow on Thursday.
