New Delhi: Writer Mark Tully on Tuesday slammed the government for not coming clean on the Salman Rushdie issue, saying if someone has offended religion sentiments then there is law to deal with it.
"Salman Rushdie should have been allowed to enter in this country because that is the law of the land. Government is not coming clean on the issue from the very begining. This is very sad indeed as Jaipur Festival is very famous throughout the world," Tully said.
He said that if people think that Rushdie has offended the religious sentiments then they should take him to law and let the law decide.
Sahatya Akademi award winner author Kiran Nagarkar said that no writer should be treated so badly.
"We are so fed up of the way such things are going on. I wish Rushdie could come here without threats to his life," he said.
