Jaipur: Ashutosh Gowarikar's epic-drama Jodha Akbar has again got into trouble. After a notice from an animals rights groups against cruelty to animals during the shooting in Rajasthan, Rajputs have now dragged Gowarikar to court over the potrayal of Jodha Bai as Akbar's wife who they claim was actually Akbar's daughter-in-law.

Says Chairperson, Rajput Sabha, Narendra Singh Rajawat, "This just means that one can even make a love story on Mahatma Gandhi. Just because you want to make money out of it, would the nation allow that? You have to have facts."

The petitioners have attached some 24 references from history books including the eleventh standard NCERT book to support their claims.

According to some historians, Jodha Bai of Jodhpur was not even born when Akbar got married to Harakh Bai of Amer.

Says historian Professor R S Khangarot, "Poetic license is alright, cinematic license is alright, but the point is that do you have the right to change history or create your own history?"

Gowariker however, maintains that he has done an extensive four year of research on the subject of his film.

"I have done as much research as possible from various books. Haider Ali, the writer of the story, has also referred to many books and the screenplay has been written on the basis of these books. I have even met Irfan Habib of Aligarh Muslim University," says he.

As of now the matter is up for hearing on December 6 when Gowariker will have to file his reply before the court.
