Saharsa: In another case of the big grain drain, 32,000 quintals worth of rice was found rotting in the railway yard in Saharsa in Bihar. The grain had been rotting at the yard since the last three months.
Reports reveal that the foodgrain, which was meant for distribution among Below Poverty Line (BPL) card holders under the Public Distribution System scheme, had been left to rot in the open since March.
The District Magistrate of Saharsa has filed an FIR against officials in charge of the stock. During a raid, it was revealed that the rotten grain was being mixed with normal rice at an FCI godown to be sold in the market.
