Mumbai: Sixty-six-year old Subhash Subhedar is searching for something he can find only in family albums -company.
"My wife gets busy with the housework. My son is away at his office most of the time,” said a retired private sector employee, Subhash Subedhar.
So he decided to step out with a bag in hand and joined by a neighbour, 74-year-old Vijay Sawant, he headed to school! And this one's only for senior citizens and is aptly called the nana-nani school.
After an unhurried assembly, the school gets down to business. There's a lot to look forward to ranging from everybody's favorite: music lessons to yoga to guest lectures to prayer sessions.
“My favorite subject is the bhajan session,” said a student, Mangala. Another student, Subhash Subhedar, tells us his favourite, “I like yoga.”
School has taken on an entirely different meaning for these senior citizens. It's not just the company for like-minded people, but also learning that's multi-disciplinary, with loads of fun thrown in for good measure.
And it's hard to tell that this motley group is well into their twilight years given the gusto with which they sing their swan song.
