Chennai: The Rs 16,000 crore granite mining scam in Tamil Nadu is creating ripples among the high profile. Union Minister Alagiri's daughter-in-law Anusha appeared before the Madurai Police on Sunday.

This comes days after the Madras High Court dismissed the anticipatory bail plea of Anusha's husband Durai Dayanidhi in connection with the illegal granite quarrying case.

Durai Dayanidhi is among the 60 people named in the FIR related to the illegal granite mining case. Durai was the director of one the eight mining companies implicated in the case.

The police had issued a look out notice against him and several others for their alleged roles in the multi-crore granite mining scam. There have been reports that Durai Dayanidhi might have fled the country.

The granite mining scam is alleged to be worth Rs 16,000 crore and till now 50 people have been arrested. A leaked report by the former Madurai collector had blown the lid off the Rs 16000 crore scam.
