Grenade attack near Srinagar, five killed

New Delhi: Five people have been killed in a grenade attack in Batamaloo in Srinagar. The attack took place at 1200 hrs IST on Thursday at the main bus stand in the city.

Police officials say some unidentified terrorists hurled a grenade inside the bus stand. Among those killed are three teenagers aged between 14 to 17 years.

According to the officials 17 other people have been injured in the blast. They have been admitted to the SMH Hospital.

There have a spate of similar attacks by terrorists in Kashmir in the recent past, including one at the tourist hotspot of Gulmarg. A live grenade was recovered from Batamaloo on Wednesday evening as well.
