New Delhi: As many as 14 people were injured when suspected militants hurled grenades at a base camp of Amarnath pilgrims at Baltal, about 100km away from Srinagar, on Tuesday evening.

The victims were mostly shop-owners and locals. This was the first militant attack on Amarnath Yatra this year.

Three of those wounded have been stated to be critical.

The attack took place just outside the camp at around 2130 hours. The explosion injured 13 shopkeepers in the area and the driver of a bus ferrying the pilgrims, official sources said.

The injured have been rushed to local hospitals. There was no harm caused to any pilgrims in the incident.
