New Delhi: Actor Rani Mukherji has replaced her dress designer and will sport a new look in her latest film, a news report said on Wednesday.
In Baabul, Rani has chosen Sabyasachi Mukherjee, a popular designer known more for his couture work than designing clothes for movie stars.
Sabyasachi Mukherjee replaces Manish Malhotra, a well-known dress designer for Bollywood's top stars including Preity Zinta and Kareena Kapoor.
Rani has been wearing Manish's creations since her 1998 breakthrough film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Manish gave Rani a complete makeover in this film and made her a star from an 'ill-dressed' newcomer.
Now Rani has decided to change her designer because she feels her look is becoming repetitive. She even plans to recommend Sabyasachi’s name to director Aditya Chopra and other top producers.
"We wanted Manish but finally we had to drop the idea because Rani insisted," the report quoted Ravi Chopra, director of Baabul, as saying.
The movie is likely to be released next month.
