New Delhi: Angry students and parents ransacked the PTC College in Patan town of Gujarat on Monday morning after reports of rape of some fellow students. They even beat up the principal of the college and some of the teachers.

Window panes, doors and furnitures of the college were damaged in the ensuing rampage.

The alleged rapists are six lecturers of the college.

Reports say they used to lure girl students to isolated spots on the pretext of granting them grace marks, and then rape them.

The incident came to light after one such victim fainted during a prayer meeting. She was found to be pregnant, and when questioned, revealed the names of the lecturers. She said she was raped repeatedly by the lecturers.

The police have taken all six lecturers into custody.

"No complaint was registered by the victim with the police. We came to know about the sexual assault on the girl upon reaching the college on receiving the news of outbreak of violence there," Superintendent of Police in-charge of Patan, Raghvendra Vats was quoted by news agency PTI as saying.

The process of registration of the FIR by the victim is on, Vats was further quoted as saying. He also added that a medical check up of the girl will also be done.
