Vadodara: Congress MP from Porbandar Vitthal Radadiya has been caught on CCTV cameras, pointing a gun at security personnel posted at a toll plaza. Radadiya's car was stopped by the toll booth personnel at Karjan near Vadodara late on Thursday night. When the driver showed him Radadiya's identification card, the toll booth attendant demanded to see the original identity card.
It was when the driver and the toll booth were arguing with each other that Radadiya stepped out of the car and threatened to shoot the attendants whom he claimed were wasting his time.
Police registered a case against Radadiya after analysing the CCTV footage. "We received information that there was a scuffle with the toll plaza employee. We investigating this case and we will try our best. We have seen CCTV footage and we will do investigation on that basis," said Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Usha Rada.
The Congress has also sought an explanation from the Gujarat MP while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which rules Gujarat, said that the culprit would not be spared. "It has shown us the true face of Congress. We condemn the incident. Law will take its own course and appropriate action will be taken," said Gujarat government spokesperson Jai Narayan Vyas.
Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari also reacted to the incident saying, "I have clearly stated that the images beaming on the TV screens are very disturbing and we share your concerns. But since we have asked for an explanation, it is incumbent on us to err on the side of caution".
