New Delhi: An initiative of a Gurgaon-based BPO, WNS and the Haryana Police is to set up a session to train and sensitise police control room officials who respond to distress calls.
Started over a month ago, this third session is for trainers from the Haryana Police academy in Madhuban.
Chief Administration Officer WNS, Manoj Sharan says, "We are using our skill set to train these officers. It's part of our corporate responsibility initiative. For the person who receives the call at the PCR, it could be the hundredth call of the day, but for the person who has called, it could be extremely important."
ACP Gurgaon, Sumit Kumar adds, "We always felt that there was scope for improverment for our basic staff who deal with phone calls from complainants."
The inititative involves not just training to take calls, it's also management concepts and personality development all rolled into one and to communicate these concepts, the sessions are generously peppered with fun activites.
The games are expected to improve coordination, team work and most importantly time management.
And the session was without a doubt a big hit with all the participants, with one of the participants, Om Prakash saying, "The session has given us strength and confidence that we should also be appreciated by the common people."
The organisers are now trying to rope in more BPOs to make the initiative broad-based and extend the training to all of Haryana Police.
