New Delhi: The police have recorded statements of the people present at the Delhi-Gurgaon toll plaza when a toll plaza attendant was shot dead.
22-year-old toll-plaza attendant Umesh Kumar Pandey was shot dead on Friday morning at the Delhi-Gurgaon toll-plaza. The assailants who came in an SUV refused to pay the toll fee. The car owners refused to pay and insisted that they must be allowed to go.
When Umesh insisted on the payment, an occupant in the car owner took out a revolver and fired at him from point blank range.
The police registered an FIR against unknown persons and got the CCTV footage to trace the culprits.
In the CCTV footage of the incident, the assailants were seen arguing with the attendant, after which they pumped bullets into his chest and fled the scene. The bullet pierced the victim's neck, resulting in his spot death.
The police suspect that the accused were from a nearby area and are looking for an eyewitnesses who can indicate the registration number of the SUV. They have also written to the Haryana government to give the go-ahead for a police booth to be set up at the toll-plaza.
No arrests have been made as yet.
