New Delhi: After months of unsettling quiet and simmering tensions, the Gurjar community in Rajasthan has threatened to launch fresh agitation.
The Gurjar Arakshan Sangharsh Samiti wants the state government to forward Justice Jasraj Chopra Committee's report on granting them Scheduled Tribe status to the Centre by December 15.
In May this year, mass agitations by the Gujjars had brought Rajasthan to a virtual standstill.
But the state government is already under pressure not to comply with this demand.
The powerful Meena commuity is opposed to ST status for the Gurjars.
The Meenas say if the report is sent to the Centre, they will now allow ministers and legislators from the community to enter their villages.
