Jammu: The lesson that 30-year-old Shalu Gupta, a disabled teacher in Jammu, gives her class every day is : Where there is a will, there is a way.

Shalu, a computer lecturer at the Commerce College in Jammu, lost both her hands in 1995 after an electric shock. She was 19 then. But despite all odds, she has managed to fulfill her dream of becoming a teacher.

"Even before my accident I had this dream to be a teacher. And after the accident, my will became even stronger," Shalu says.

However, Shalu says, she now comfortable juggling between college, private tuitions and household work and her students think she does a good job of it. She is a constant source of inspiration for them.

"She's an inspiration for us. Not only for me but for the whole college," Shalu’s student Chanderlekha says.

"She is an example for all of us that despite her handicap she has such a strong will," another student, Deepak says.

It's been 11 years since the accident but Shalu says she has taken up every challenge. It hasn’t restrained her from learning new things even when she teaches her students to winners all the way.
