Gujarat: 17-year-old Sushila Patel is physically challenged and cannot use her hands, but that did not prevent her from writing her class XII Board exams.
Sushila suffers from polio and is from a poor family in Mora village of Gujarat. She writes with her feet, but still wants to continue studying.
Sushila's spirit is remarkable as she aspires to be a school teacher some day to support her family.
"I still write with my feet. After clearing the exams, I will study to be a school teacher, and then, I can support my family," says the ambitious 17-year-old.
The district administration made arrangements for a separate room for Sushila to write her exams, but she insisted on sitting with the other students.
District Education officer Panchmahals, G B Patel says, "Privileges for physically handicapped students are available for her, but she doesn't want to be treated differently."
Sushila's father Govind Patel is proud of his daughter's willpower, and says the family tried all they could to cure the girl.
"She has been affected since birth due to polio but, her hands are weak but she writes with the help of her feet," says Govind.
Becoming a teacher may still be a long way off for Sushila, but she has already taught a lesson in life to many people around her, with her undying spirit to move ahead in life.
