Happy B'day! Let's check Bushisms

New York: US President George Bush turns 60 on Thursday. A day earlier, Bush cut a cake with his troops and vowed not to withdraw from Iraq until it stabilises.

And it seems that Bush won't stop taking liberties with the English language too.

"I will work to end terriers and barriffs [tariffs and barriers] everywhere, across the world" Bush once said.

Now all Bushisms have been compiled in a handy book by political writer Jacob Weisberg, who says he isn't trying to be nasty.

From terriers and barriers to "he misunderestimated me", it's all in there in his own words.

It’s not just that, Bush can be downright ungrammatical too.

He once asked, "Is our children learning," a New York resident recalls.

"Is our children learning? The question should be is our President learning," another resident says.

"He says things unintentionally that are hilariously funny to me and a lot of people and it would be a shame for me not to have a complete record of it," Weisberg says.

Apparently, the verbal blooper gene got passed on from father to son because Weisberg started collecting Bushisms from George Bush senior.

"Subliminal Messages," Bush had once said.

"I like the ones that are just whacky like when he said 'I know the humans and fish can coexist peacefully'," Weisberg says.

At the same time, Hollywood actor Robin Williams tells people how Bush sees the people of Greece.

"People who live in Greece are not Greeks they are Grecians," William says.
