New Delhi: Harper's Bazaar is the latest kid in the fashion magazine space in India. With a strong fashion lineage let's see what this magazine has in mind for the fashion folks of our country.
Recession doesn't seem to be stopping international fashion magazines to set shop in India. Following the footsteps of Vogue, that came out with its Indian edition sometime last year, Harper's Bazaar is the latest lifestyle-fashion glossy to make a stopover in India.
The launch issue of Harper's Bazaar has the petite Kareena Kapoor on its cover and a crystal encrusted mast head. Flip open and there's a luxurious photospread of Kareena and boyfriend Saif Ali Khan shot in Mauritius, with an equally colourful writeup full of candid confessions and style fundas.
Bazaar's editorial sharpness and visual dexterity make it an interesting Sunday afternoon read. And the launch issue is buzzing with a mix of contributors from Arjun Rampal to Hollywood stalwart Joan Collins. You cannot miss the fashion photoshoots by Farrokh Chotia, designers wearing another designer's creations, the event listings and the no-fuss story on Farhan and Adhuna Akthar's style.
Magazine layouts are certainly refreshing but we thought Vogue and Elle had cleaner ones.
Contentwise – one certainly cannot expect a Harper's Bazaar to be completely India-centric, call that a pro or a con! Bottomline: pick it up if you are a fashion junkie!
