Karnal: The Haryana government is in a fix following the murder of a ex-village headman in Karnal district. The incident happened a day after the former sarpanch had lodged complaints against the state Transport Minister and a chief Parliamentary secretary.

Angry villagers came out on the streets of Karnal after the murder of 60-year-old Karam Singh. He was found near his village Kambopura with injury marks on his body and subsequently died in hospital on Sunday, but not before he said two ministers got him poisoned.

Karam Singh's family have now alleged that Transport and Tourism Minister Om Parkash Jain and Chief Parliamentary Secretary Jile Ram Sharma got him killed because he had asked them to return Rs 13 lakh paid to them for government jobs for his son and two others.

"He had complained on Tuesday to the CM, DCP Karnal and DCP Panipat. Around 7.30 am we got a call that he has been seriously injured," said his son Rajinder Kumar.

Karam singh died a day after he lodged complaints against the two ministers to the Haryana CM and the deputy commissioners of Panipat and Karnal.

"He was seriously injured and later died in hospital. The post mortem is being done. Action will be taken," said IG Karnal Kaamraj.

Meanwhile, the postmortem report has confirmed that Karam Singh was injected with a poisonous substance.

Villagers have been camping at the trauma centre in Karnal where Karam Singh's body is being kept. They are demanding that action be taken against those responsible for the killing.
