Sirsa: As former Haryana minister Gopal Kanda continued to remain in jail for his alleged involvement in the suicide case of former air hostess Geetika Sharma, two of Haryana ministers have come out in public in defence of their former colleague. The ministers were speaking at an event organised in Sirsa to celebrate Kanda's 47th birthday.
Praising his former colleague, Haryana Minister for Labour and Employment Shiv Charan Sharma said: "It's not a big case against Gopal Kanda. He just got himself a servant by mistake." Chief Parliamentary Secretary and Fatehabad MLA Prahalad Singh, who was also present at the event, said that he is sure that the rumours against Kanda would soon die down.
"It's just bad time for my brother Gopal Kanda. But very soon he will be proved innocent and these rumours will die on their own," he said. The celebrations were also marked by a hawan and a health camp.
Twenty-three-year-old Geetika was found dead on August 5 at her Ashok Vihar residence in northwest Delhi. In one of her suicide notes, the woman said she was ending her life due to "harassment" by Kanda and his aide Aruna Chaddha, co-accused in the case.
