Jind: Members of a Dalit organisation created a ruckus outside a PWD guesthouse in Jind, Haryana after police refused to let them in on Wednesday. The group wanted to go inside to meet the 11 MPs visiting from Delhi. The MPs who are on a fact-finding mission were holding a closed door meeting with rape victims and their families.

The District Collector and the DGP were also present at the closed door meeting. The Dalit group wanted to hand over an application demanding a proper investigation into recent incidents of rape. The MPs have now left Jind.

CPI national secretary D Raja, who was part of the delegation, was very critical of some of the recent comments of Khap leaders meant to explain the spate of rapes in Haryana. This comes on a day a fact-finding parliamentary committee will be meeting Dalit rape victims in Jind. "Why are they making such comments. They are going back to the medieval era with statements like chowmein leads to rape. These comments are bizarre and unscientific and shows the mentality of the section of people there."
