Suresh Productions, FX Labs and Spirit have joined hands to produce the gaming versions of hit films like Sholay.
They're already into the gaming business and their products 'Inferno' and 'Archies Riverdale Run' are scheduled for release in early 2007.
The companies say Indian films have a great potential of getting converted into games and for the first time this market is going to be tapped.
"Within a year, you will surely see an Indian film being converted into a game. After that every three-six months, we should be able to come out with a game for an Indian film," says President, Suresh Productions, D Suresh Babu.
According to these companies, over 30 per cent increase in the number of PCs in the country was one of the reasons that inspired them to make video games on Indian films.
"Every child today is associated with the computers; he uses e-mail and Internet and plays games on the computer. He will be comfortable playing an Indian game with Indian stars and content of a film that he has already seen," says Managing Director, Spirit, Rana Daggupati.
Besides Bollywood movies, video games will also be made based on South Indian movies, especially those featuring Rajnikanth in the lead role.
The trend of making video games of successful films was started by Hollywood, which has already come out with the video game of flicks like Shrek, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and The Godfather.
