New Delhi: The High Court has allowed the producers of Salman Khan starrer Veer to shoot at the Amer Fort for four days.
The film producer will have to pay a fine of Rs 20 lakh because allegedly, the crew and fort authorities damaged the monument during shooting.
The film's crew raised a wall inside the fort, violating conservation laws and built a set that demolished the old limestone roof of Chand Mahal. Adding more to the troubles for Veer last week was the collapse of a wall during the shooting injuring 15 persons.
Union Minister of Tourism and Culture, Ambika Soni has ordered an enquiry into the incident.
The Rajasthan government has also been served a court notice, asking it to explain why the norms relating to protected historical monuments were not followed. The last date for replying officially to the query is March 3.
The shooting of Veer, produced by Vijay Gailani and directed by Anil Sharma, at the Fort was earlier mired in controversy with one Rajendra Singh challenging it on the grounds that it was violating the Monument Protection Act.
The Fort Authority had later cleared the decks on an assurance from filmmakers of Veer that assured them of taking precautions.
