BANGALORE: The High Court on Tuesday quashed the Karnataka Housing Board’s (KHB) 1990-91 notification on acquiring 80 acres land near Allalasandra on the outskirts of the city for lack of scheme and plan.
Hearing a petition by filed by one Devaraju, Justice Mohan Shanthana Gowdar quashed the notification and directed the housing department not to acquire any land without a plan or scheme.
The petitioner stated that the Karnataka Housing Board had acquired 80 acres of private land near Allalasandra without any plan in 1990-91 and till now the board is not doing any activities in the acquired land.
Bail granted
The Lokayukta Court on Tuesday granted bail to JD(S) Panchalingaiah. who was arrested by the Lokayukta police on charges of cheating and fabricating documents to receive compensation from the government for the land acquired by Bangalore Development Authority (BDA).
The case has been posted to June 21 for further hearing.
He was arrested following an investigation conducted after a private complaint was filed in the Special Lokayukta Court in January.
