HC to hear plea of sugar factories

HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh High Court will hear on January 23 a batch of petitions filed by various private sugar factories in the state challenging the Centre's intervention on sale of nonlevy sugar stocks in the open market.Several sugar companies approached the High Court contending that the restriction imposed by the Centre is coming their way and that they were not able to pay dues to the sugarcane growers on time and were forced to pay interest to the banks and financial institutions. Action of the Centre is arbitrary and violative of their rights guaranteed under the Constitution, they said.
