New Delhi: A 24-year old executive working with HDFC bank in Gurgaon allegedly committed suicide on Tuesday. The police have charged her husbands family with criminal conspiracy and causing a dowry death.

Ranju Singh was found hanging from the ceiling fan by her husband, Praveer Singh, when he came home from work. Praveer says he tried to bring the body down, however while doing so, it fell on the floor. He later called up the police and his in-laws and informed them about the incident.

“We got to know there was someone who committed suicide in the house. On arrival, we saw the woman's body and her husband,” says ASI, Gurgaon, Jaswant Singh.

Praveer, who works with HCL, married Ranju two months back and Ranju's family members blame him for her death.

“It cannot be a case of suicide, she was a very strong girl,” says victim’s father, Pavan Singh.

Ranju’s uncle also rules out the possibility of suicide. “I don't accept this as suicide, as Ranju has injuries on her forehead,” says he.

Meanwhile, Praveer has been detained for questioning and the postmortem report is awaited.
