KOZHIKODE: It was only three months back that KC Ramachandran, CPM Kunnummakkara local committee member and one of the party leaders arrested by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in connection with the TP Chandrasekharan murder case on charges of criminal conspiracy, completed one among his many assignments as a building contractor - the construction of the house of N Venu, Onchiyam area secretary of Revolutionary Marxist Party. Clearly, the ongoing feud between the CPM and the RMP did not adversely affect Ramachandran who apparently managed to keep his mainline business separate from party activity.
“Ramachandran is shrewd and he never had any personal enmity with Chandrasekharan. He hardly figured in the protests staged by the CPM against the RMP in the region. Till the day he was arrested, Ramachandran used to interact with most members of the RMP. In fact, the building contract for my home was also undertaken by Ramachandran,” Venu said.
Ramachandran, who hails from Elamangottukavu in Onchiyam, was not a full-time party worker till about a decade ago. It was in 2005 that he was elected a member of the Azhiyoor block panchayat.
