New Delhi: The North got a welcome break from the heat on Sunday as heavy rains lashed parts of it including the national capital over the weekend.
Punjab and Haryana were 3 degrees Celsius below normal. Narnaul in Haryana received 36 millimetres of rain while Ludhiana received 51 millimetres of rainfall.
Himachal Pradesh too received moderate to heavy rainfall. The Met Department has warned of more rainfall in the days ahead.
The rain is expected to ease the power situation in the North as hot weather had fuelled high demand leading to repeated scheduled and unscheduled power cuts.
