The massive 58-feet tall Khairatabad Ganesh idol is all set to roll out on a trolley to Tank Bund here on Saturday afternoon.
Every year, the 2.5 km long procession takes anywhere between 12-14 hours to reach the Hussain Sagar lake.
As many as 20 welders from the Mint-PWD workshop on Friday worked for nearly 10 hours to set the metal platform on the trolley.
The welding that started at 12 noon went on till 10pm.
Almost 90% of the welding work was complete and the rest will be done once the idol is placed over the trolley.
Every year, it is brought from a Bangaluru based company.
In the wee hours of Saturday, a trial placement of Ganesh idol will be done.
According to representatives of the Khairatabad Ganesh Utsav Committee, the idol will be lifted using a crane and placed on the trolley at 4am on Saturday and by 12 noon, be welded with supporting angles.
The crane that is used every year is also brought from a company in Chennai Shipyard.
