Help us to hunt Dawood, US tells Pakistan

CNN-IBN

New Delhi: The US has reportedly asked Pakistan for help in getting to underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.

The American investigating agency, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) are reported to have joined the hunt.

The FBI and the DEA have sought cooperation from several Pakistani agencies to help track Dawood down and trace his links with al-Qaeda and his alleged involvement in international drug smuggling.

Pakistan's Inter Services Intelligence, Federal Investigation Agency, the Anti-Narcotics Force and the Interior Ministry have all been contacted by the US agencies.

Pakistan's Interior Ministry has said it cannot help since no person by the name of Dawood Ibrahim lives on Pakistani soil.

New Delhi's repeated requests to Islamabad for his deportation have been met by similar denials. Dawood heads India's most wanted list and is believed to have masterminded the Mumbai 1993 blasts.
