With 'Hemlock Society' attracting houseful audiences and 'Bhooter Bhobisyat' managing to draw crowds even after 75 days, new age filmmakers feel that though the going has never been so good, the formula to make an arthouse movie click was still elusive.
"I am a regular guy and not a film buff. But I feel happy with the turn of events in the Bengali entertainment sector at present," 'Bhooter Bhabisyat' director Anik Dutta said at a Young Leaders Forum meet of the Indian Chamber of Commerce. Speaking on the topic of 'Resurgence of Bengal's Entertainment Industry', Anik said his formula was that while working on the script of a film he asks himself was whether it would be a film he would personally like to see and whether could move him.
He felt that though this was a resurgent phase for the middle of the road or arthouse Bengali movies, the exact model for success was still to be worked out. "With film it is difficult to find a formula, or a business model that will work for each and every film," Anik, who had made many acclaimed ad films previously, said.
