Drinking and driving is one of the single largest causes of accidents especially in the metros during the New Year. And the question everyone is asking is - how do you prevent it?
Well, a liquor company and a television channel put their heads together to come up with 400 cabs to drop party animals home after painting the town red.
“It’s a programme that we are very excited about because even if one life is saved on New Year’s eve then we will feel that it was worth the investment,” MD, Diageo India Pvt Ltd, Asif Adil says.
So, how does it work?
Drops are available from 1230 hours IST to 0400 hours IST and depending on which city you are in, dial the following numbers: Mumbai - 64501234 and Delhi - 64141206/7 and provide them your details. You get a booking number and then it's time to party hard.
Successfully pressure tested on Christmas eve this year, the best part of this initiative is that it's free of cost and what's more, your designated driver can also let his or her hair down and enjoy the evening.
“Sometimes outside five star hotels you get cabs who try to charge you more or you don’t get a cab at all. Here the cabs are on time, the drivers are efficient and you are driven home safely. So, I think it’s a fantastic idea,” partygoer, Condrad Curry says.
