BANGALORE: The Kodigehalli police arrested three notorious chain snatches who belonged to the Bavari gang of Uttar Pradesh. More than 40 chain snatching cases have been solved with their arrest.
The accused have been identified as Pappu, 21, Sachin alias Sachin Kumar, 20, and Kuldeep, 21. They were arrested when they tried to snatch a chain from a woman constable deployed as a decoy.
According to the police, the Kodigehalli police conducted a special operation to nab chain snatchers and woman constable Sharada Nayakar was deputed as decoy in Sahakaranagar. Constables B M Satish and B S Ramesh were deployed at a distance.
Meanwhile, the accused Pappu and Sachin came on a bike and tried to snatch gold chain from Sharada. As she raised an alarm, the constables chased the miscreants and nabbed them.
Based on their information, Kuldeep was also arrested.
“They used to come by flights to commit the robbery in the city. They brought bike from Delhi by a train and used it in the crime,” police said.
