Mumbai: US Secretary of state, Hillary Clinton, on her first official visit to India, has decided to stay at the epicentre of the 26/11 attacks, the Taj Hotel in Mumbai.
Explosions and gunfire had turned one of Mumbai’s biggest landmark into a scene of carnage just 8 months ago.
Security has been tight. Apart from Hillary's own entourage of CIA and FBI agents, the Mumbai police has deployed the ATS, state reserve police, traffic police and bomb squads with jammers around the hotel.
Besides the barricades that have been setup all around the building to keep away pedestrians, there are also setup across the road to ensure that no unauthorised vehicle is parked anywhere near the hotel.
Even the bylanes and the arterial road leading to the hotel has a huge presence of cops and private security.
Every supply vehicle to the hotel is being checked and then again cross-checked before any of these make it's way into the hotel.
A background check on every employee at the hotel has been done. Even photojournalists were stopped from filming the place.
And all of this even as the hotel decks up for Hillary, who is to attend a 26/11 commemorative event and meetings with business leaders hosted by Ratan Tata.
At his busiest will be Taj's Chief chef Hemant Oberoi preparing to make some of Hillary's favorite recipes like Chicken keema and Saag paneer.
None of the hotel's palatial suites are ready yet. So hotel officials have combined several rooms together for Hillary's stay.
Hillary's visit, many hope, would help India bring to book those who launched the daring attack that all but destroyed this icon of Mumbai.
