Himachal: Virbhadra Singh seeks rail links to industrial hub Baddi

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh has demanded setting up of new rail projects, especially in its industrial belt of Baddi-Barotiwala, besides expediting ongoing rail projects, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh said in Shimla on Monday.

"I met Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal and apprised him about adequate funding for ongoing projects," he told reporters in Shimla.

Virbhadra Singh said the issue of connecting industrial township of Baddi with broad-gauge railway line and extending proposed metro rail network in Chandigarh up to Baddi was also taken up.

Official sources said the Chief Minister has sought funding in the ratio 75:25 for the Bhanupalli-Beri project.

Delay in completion of the Nangal-Talwara and Bhanupalli-Bilaspur-Beri rail lines was also taken up with Bansal, he added.

Likewise, the conversion of the Pathankot-Jogindernagar narrow gauge rail line into broad gauge was also taken up, sources said.
