Srinagar Security forces on Tuesday night shot dead two Hizbul Mujahideen militants including a self-styled divisional commander of the outfit during an encounter in Mahore area of Reasi district in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said here.
"Police and CRPF today (Tuesday) eliminated two militants of Hizbul Mujahideen in an encounter in Mahore," a police spokesman said.
Police and 126 Bn of CRPF had launched a joint operation on specific information in the Deedan Gali in Mahore. The militants were asked to surrender but they opened fire on security personnel who retaliated and an encounter ensued in which the two ultras were killed, he said.

"The slain Hizbul Mujahiden militants have been identified as Mustaq Ahmad alias Irfan and Shabir Ahmad alias Hamza," he said.
Mushtaq alias Irfan was active since 1999 and was functioning as Divisional commander of the outfit, the spokesman added.
