New Delhi: India's failure to qualify for the Olympics may be an old story for newspapers and TV channels now, but the fans continue to be distraught.
The Hockey Fans' Club of India took to the streets in the Capital on Monday, demanding the removal of Indian Hockey Federation and its President KPS Gill.
The club blamed the IHF and Gill for the dismal state of Indian hockey.
With chants of Gill hatao Hockey bachao, these fans also wanted Australian Coach Ric Charlesworth to be given the full charge of the men's hockey team.
"Can't they find anyone else? There are so many Olympians in the country, but they are being wasted. Neither Mr Gill speaks to the media properly, nor does he is open to any advice. He doesn't even speak to the Olympians and former players. It's even impossible to meet him. So what advice can he take and how can he ever take any?" asks S Ajit Singh, President of the Hockey Fans' Club.
