New Delhi: The mother of all Holi celebrations will not happen this year. Call it political compulsion in an election year or otherwise Lalu Yadav is in no mood to celebrate his famous kapra faar (tearing clothes) Holi. Nor will Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and LJP president Ram Vilas Paswan celebrate Holi. The Holi celebrations have been drowned in Kosi floods.
And in Delhi as well for Congress President Sonia Gandhi and son Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi this year's Holi will be a low key affair, as a mark of respect to those killed in Mumbai terror attacks.
"Festivities are under control, it's a good occasion to send out the right message," said Congress Secretary, Tom Vaddakan.
And for once Congress workers aren't taking a cue from the high command.
For BJP workers as well shock treatment in alliance management by Naveen Patnaik isn't any dampner in the festive season.
"The celebrations should not be marred by these incidents," said BJP Spokesperson, Ravi Shankar Prasad.
But top party leaders including L K Advani and Atal Bihari Vajpayee won't celebrate Holi in the wake of Mumbai terror strikes. Politicians are in a renunciation mode, in election time they know you get back a lot more when you give up.
