Hollywood greets Merry Christmas

CNN-IBN

Voila! Christmas is just around the corner and one can already smell merriment in the winter air. Hollywood is busy rolling out its quota of holiday movies, the most prominent amongst them being The Holiday.

The premiere of the film at London's Leicester Square on Tuesday saw the star-cast walk a snow-flaked white carpet packed.

The film stars Jude Law opposite Cameron Dias while his sister, played by Kate winslet is paired with Jack Black. Directed by Nancy Meyers, it’s the usual feel good love and tears story. However, Winslet says she has no doubts that the film will rope in men as well.

"I think the appeal for men is the fact that Cameron Diaz and I are the leads in this film. We are just so great and fabulous and beautiful, that is one obvious appeal after all," says Kate Winslet.

Hollywood singer and diva Beyonce returns on the celluloid screens in Dreamgirls.

The diva was a surprise early bird at the premiere of the film in New York. Dreamgirls is a story of three black female soul singers and their journey to the top of the charts. Beyonce plays Deena, a mediocre singer who rises to superstardom with the band's success.

“I would have done it for absolutely free because I wanted to be a part of something with Eddie Murphy and Jamie Foxx and Bill Condon,” says Beyonce.

Also starring Jamie Foxx and Edie Murphy, and directed by Bill Condon, Dreamgirls opens in North American theatres on just the right occasion—December 25 to mark a merry Christmas!
