Patna (Bihar): In the flood zone of Bihar, Mohammed Saidullah is cycling against the tide. Saidullah ferries passengers on his unique cycle rickshaw that floats on water.

His innovation, which got him praise from the President of India, is now a huge help to hundreds of people in Motihari district

"Once, I used my rickshaw to take a very sick man to a hospital. It was more

comfortable than any boat," says he.

The seventy-year-old, who is a rickshaw puller, takes pride in the fact that his floating rickshaw doesn't consume fuel.

" I want to rid my country of pollution and for that, I sold off all my land to put money into this innovation," says he.

With large parts of Bihar under water and the authorities caught napping year after year, such innovators are a Godsend, ensuring life goes on beyond the ruins.
