Dhaka: At least 50 people were injured in a series of blasts inside a hotel in Bangladesh's capital Dhaka early on Monday, private televisions channels reported.

According to Ntv Network, the blasts occurred in three rounds between 2200 hours IST on Sunday and 0130 hours early on Monday in the 12-storey hotel Orchard Plaza located near civil centre in the capital city.

Fire service officials were quoted by TV channels as saying that though the actual cause of the blasts was not clear yet, they suspected blast in a gas pipeline and short circuit inside the hotel that could have caused the explosions.

Many foreigners were also injured in the blasts, however there was no fatality reported yet.

Fire service personnel, members of joint forces including Army, local police and paramilitary personnel engaged in the rescue operation, TV reports said.
