How about a wedding at the crematory?

Bramer: It's an unlikely venue for a wedding but this cremation ground in the heart of the desert has just seen one wedding and many funerals, all in a day. Kaushalya and Rewant exchanged their vows for a new life together at this place that marks the end for most people.

Kaushalya, bride, said, “I grew up here and I was always called the daughter of the crematorium…so I'm happy that this is also where my wedding has been solemnized.”

Bizarre as it may sound, the wedding wasn't held at the cremation ground out of any spooky kicks nor was it a celeb's 'different' wedding fantasy unfolding. It was a decision taken by the bride's mother whose workplace happens to be the cremation ground. It was partly the resource crunch and partly their level of comfort with the place that got Kaushalya and her mother to zero in on the unique venue.

Leela Devi, bride's mother, said, “There's nothing spooky about this place I know since I've been living here and the special thing about this wedding is that my daughter will also be blessed by the departed souls.”

With the guests housed in the crematorium shelters, funeral rituals and the wedding ceremonies being conducted alongside and the bride being taken to seek the blessings of the dear departed amid the wedding, everyone including the priest with over a 1000 weddings behind him looked on in wide eyed wonder.
