How many Marathis in pvt firms, asks state

New Delhi: The issue of the 'Marathi Manus' come up again just a couple of months ahead of state elections.

Maharashtra's Labour Minister Nawab Maliq has announced a survey which will aim to find out the number of Maharashtrians employed in the private sector.

The Minister's announcement came on Thursday in the state Assembly after the Speaker ordered a survey to find the ratio of Maharashtrians and non-Maharashtrians in private companies.

The decision came on a debate initiated by the Shiv Sena over the issue of migrants in Mumbai.

Answering a related question the minister also said that eight private television programme producers will be charged for violation of prevention of child labour act. A case will be registered against producers of eight television who are using child stars.
